You don't have much to work with there except for Florida and out of the US

Can't say I hate it but wouldn't live there, and never want to visit again. It's just not my kind of place.

Me too man. My wife hates the cold though. I think we'll probably compromise after my kids are out of school and maybe move to Asheville or somewhere like that.

Asheville gets pretty damn miserable in the winter. I lived there for 2 years already. Once the leaves fall off the trees in November, the wind doesn't drop by 10 mph until they grow back in spring. It's a steady, cold, humid wind. I thought the winter's in Colorado where much easier to deal with. There, even in January, it'll get up to 70° at least one day a week.

Don't just move to Asheville thinking it's not cold. Visit there in January or February. Otherwise, you'll be in for a shock.

Why let semantics get in the way of a good argument

If you're in the market I'll get you a solid deal once it goes up for sale. Mention my name for a 10% discount.

No cop out. This isn't supposed to be a New Orleans thread.

Not sure what this has to do with New Orleans.

I'm not sold on Asheville specifically. Just somewhere in that general vicinity. I'll bring my wife in October, she'll love it and then I'll go from there. She's actually pretty laid back for a woman

I'm actually ok with cold but she's not. I've lived in NYC and Washington.

Regardless of what the rest of the state thinks about it. New Orleans is why Louisiana is on the map. Without it, you'd be thought of as just another Alabama or Mississippi. So if Louisiana is brought up, it should be expected that there will be some Nola discussion too.

Get it? No cop out? Because there are never cops out in New Orleans?

I crack myself up sometimes.

Asheville is a great city. If you're also just thinking that general area, I'm a big fan of the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area.

I had a damn offer letter for a job in Raleigh about 10 years ago and the wife shut it down because my twins were just born. I use to travel a lot and probably spent 4-5 months in the area. It's not quite as scenic as the Asheville area but it's nice and a great market for my job.

October is fantastic in wnc. You'll get her there for sure after that trip. But a few weeks later, it's miserable. And unlike Denver or Boulder, there's no snow to have any winter outdoor activities. It's just cold and windy.

I'm good. I've lived in the Quarter before. Not interested in doing it again. We have a family condo in the WHD, and my own house is all the property taxes I care to pay right now.
