Bayous to explore in S. Louisiana

So the other day after seeing some paintings of bayou scenes and houses on stilts perched righ off the water amidst Spanish moss-covered trees it occurred to me...why can't I go see that for myself? So if I were to launch my boat into one of the bayous with the intention of cruising down it to see what there is to see, which ones are best?

There are so many awesome places it's difficult to narrow it down. They're all different. Bayou Lacombe is pretty cool because you can transition from hardwood swamp to marsh, and most of the other bayous in and out of Honey Island are worth checking out. Everything surrounding the Basin is pretty awesome. The marsh is a whole different scene and varies by region.

Bayou Teche is quite possibly the most well known of any bayou in Louisiana, especially for paddling. Ancient path of the Mississippi as well.
Lacassine Bayou in SWLA. Ouiska Chitto (creek) is a great place, but not the easiest to paddle.
As previously mentioned, Bayou Lacombe.

make sure your GPS skills are on point
couple turns off the main drag and all of a sudden you wish you would have stuck to pictures
speaking from experience(Pearl River Swamp)

this would be my choice...easily navigable and very, very scenic.
My second choice would be Bayou DiSiard in north LA....
