I still can't believe David Carrington is running, being a Jefferson County Commissioner is a death sentence for your political career these days.

He is big on the Nascar scene. Carrington, Battle, and the guy Rick and Bubba are pushing are my favorites in the clubhouse, if I were a betting man.

"...it's basically Battle and Maddox.....nobody else"

FIFY

Battle and Maddox are far and away the best candidates though Maddox needs to run on the Republican ticket to have a realistic chance

I'm just glad Roy Moore isn't running for governor. My hope is that when it comes down to it Alabamians won't vote for him in the U.S. Senate special election

The physical incarnation of Westborro Baptist currently has an 8 point lead...

Should be a shoe-in regardless of party given the clown show the OP listed, but Alabama gonna Alabama.

Battle was at the top of the list the OP linked, and as someone who lives in Huntsville, I can tell you he is no clown.

And there is no way a Democrat will win the Alabama governorship in today's political environment.

I'll streak naked at the next LSU football game if a Democrat wins an Alabama gubernatorial election.

Tough road yes. But, he is the only Democrat that has a very good chance to win.

There is no way that a Democrat will win. It will absolutely not happen in today's political environment in this state, especially if he's running against a competent Republican like Battle. Hell, Roy Moore would beat him in a head to head race in this state, and Roy Moore is a caricature at this point in his political career.

Has Saban endorsed yet? That could swing a lot of voters.

In my opinion, the ideal race would come down to Battle vs. Maddox.

ETA: I'm an idiot.

Well, Strange and Moore are running for U.S. Senate. Battle and Maddox are running for Governor of the state.

I wouldn't bet on that. You'd have a low Republican turnout due to the fact that moderate R's no longer give a shite about legislating morals in this state.

10-15 years from now the voters that loved the Moore's of the party will be gone and we can finally move this state in the right direction.

Ted, you and most of Tuscaloosa and Walt's mother will vote for him.

That's not going to win a statewide race I hate to tell you.
