You know what's crazy? We may be about to trade a 1st for Jeremy Lin. A player Demps would have signed if he hadn't already paid Solomon Hill $12 million. But it gets better. If you choose Ennis and Lin over Hill, not only do you get to keep that 1st, you might be able to replace Hill with Simmons for the MLE. There is a question if for similar money Simmons would leave the Spurs, but you could offer him a starting job so I think there's a chance.
Hill + Lin
or
Ennis + Simmons + Lin + 1st

Ya I really get the feeling this offseason that Dell gets stuck on guys he believes in and just can't move off them for whatever reason. I mean we are bringing freaking Darrius Miller back.

Jesus that is depressing.

i think you can defend the Hill signing with the roster and vision they seemed to have in mind last season.
if you have Davis playing a good chunk at the 5, Hill playing up at the 4 often makes some more sense and can approach his annual $$
if you have Davis at the 4 for half the game, Ennis makes more sense and Hill at the 3 more frequently is a bad bad bad contract.
the question would then be- they seemingly knew Davis would not be happy playing the 5 as much as he did, so why spend big on Hill?

We would have already signed Lin if he didnt choose Brooklyn over us.
He gets about 13 million a year, similar to Rivers. Offensive player who can score, run some point. Not very good on defense.
But this team needs perimeter scoring/playmaking bad. Lin is an upgrade over frazier

Somehow I had managed to forget the whole Ennis opportunity cost situation and put it out of my mind....Now I want to throw up.
EDIT: To make it worse, had you done your alternative scenario, having Lin would provide more leverage in negotiations with Jrue. Since you wouldn't be up shits creek if Jrue bolted.
