one of those houses to be (a) tagged with graffiti, (b) broken into, or (c) burned to the ground?
Thinking that everyone in the community is a despicable human is a fallacy. Painting with a broad brush or being in an us vs them mindset is part of the reason we are at this crossroads.
Having a place to be proud of and call yours and not letting the place continue to erode is actually part of thof broken windows theory.

It's a small percentage of the black community, which causes the vast majority of the mayhem. Single parent families are the main cause of the many thugs which disengage from society at an early age. There is no self discipline/do the right thing/take advantage of every opportunity to improve yourself, which is taught/ingrained into these individuals. Did these kids get a bad break....hell yeah, but it's ultimately the PARENTS duty, to see to the decent upbringing of their offspring ! This responsibility cannot be legislated/well-fared/excused/"I'm a victim'd" away !

But this won't happen.
I'm happy for the few families that get these homes & sincerely hope the project works.
I have my doubts though
