Those Bo Lamar teams never got past the Sweet 16 in either '72 or '73. Those weren't great teams.

I think they have more of a right to be called Louisiana than any other school in the system.

And nobody cares what you think. The fact is, there is no flagship school of the UL System. ULL isn't even the oldest school in the system, and the only reason it's the most well known is because of all these naming shenanigans.

No matter what that school seeks to be known as, it will always be USL, ULL, or whatever it was when people were in school, and it will never be nationally known because it will still be a school with less than 20k students in Lafayette, Louisiana.

The name could be changed to UL tomorrow, and I will still call it ULL, because that is what I knew it as in college. My wife's aunt and uncle are USL grads, and they call it USL. My co-worker is a USL grad.

BTW, isn't your stupid basketball team the only other D1 athletic team with the dubious distinction of having received the Death Penalty?

Frickers had to cheat to have good teams.

Memphis made it to the 1973 finals before losing to Bill Walton and UCLA. That's a deep South team. They beat Kansas St. in the regional finals just a couple of days after Kansas St. eliminated USL in Houston. Don't try and slip anything past me. I remember more about this than you do.

Last year UL-Lafayette basketball played University of Miami, Alabama, and UCLA. 0-3.

Seems like power 5 schools to me.

Exactly. This is a program that has exactly ONE NCAA tournament win since the Bo Lamar-Roy Ebron days of the early 1970's. They aren't good enough to make a statement like the one Marlin just made.......assuming he made it. They haven't done enough on the court to justify the criticism of another program.

How is Ryan St High looking this year?

What's the overall record for "Ryan St. High" against the mighty fightin' perch of sli/usl/ul-laffy?
It really isn't even considered a rivalry based upon the beatings McNeese has given to the fightin' perch.

Even better than that, what's Patterson High Schools record against the mighty fightin' perch of sli/usl/ul-laffy? Look it up if you think I'm joking. sli/usl/ul-laffy is ZERO - 1 against PATERSON HIGH SCHOOL.

ULL might want to focus on competing better with Louisiana Tech, which currently enjoys an eight game winning streak that dates to 1997, over the school from Lafayette.

When UL had the nation's best computer science program in the 80's, it was raided by LSU.

When USL legally changed its name in '84, LSU's political machine again threw it's power around to get the decision reversed.

This is only what I know of off the top of my head. UL has every right to hate LSU.

U LA LA pronounced as it appears. It is a small school, located in a small town, with a small stadium, small crowds, with no tradition and a very small very obnoxious fan base.

U LA LA continually tries to be something that they CAN'T be (which is relevant) by slight of hand, cheating and avoiding their standing in the system of which they are a small part.

Your attempted legal shenanigans were neither legal or possible since you are a part of, not independent of your very generously state funded system. LSU and its varied campuses are the only stand alone University system with state funding. So you see. you stand shoulder to shoulder with U LA Monroe and others with equal footing and status.

Fa la la la la la......now go sit down until papa calls for you. Oh just one more thing, if you have a recruit that we for some reason become interested in we will come get him. You can ask him why and he will repeat what I have said here small time vs BIG TIME.

Certainly don't know what a Bob Marlin is. louisiana lafayette is basically Ga Southern w/o the football tradition. They know they will never be UGA but at least they have won multiple 1-AA titles & drained the swamp in Gainesville recently. The fighting GATA Eagles know their place & are fine with it.
