How do you like retirement? Is it what you expected? How do you fill your day? Was it so boring you decided to go back to work (part time)?
I doubt I'll be retiring anytime soon. Just curious.
My old man retired a few years back. He is enjoying it. Plays on a senior softball league, eats breakfast at the same diner every morning. Then goes fishing.

Haha! I kinda wondered if they post more when they are retired.
Of course they aren't chained to a computer anymore...

Pretty much, but I planned for it since I was 31, so . . . .

Doing what I want, when I want. Travel a lot. Get to do the little projects that I used to put off. Spend more time with the kids

Every night is Friday night
Every day is Saturday
No schedule unless you make it
I loved my work, but would never go back

It is great. No schedule, finally time to do stuff around the house, and money keeps showing up.
I will say for the first couple of months I felt weird since there was no phone ringing, no inbox of urgent emails, no meetings, no conference calls, deliverables, decisions, nor deadlines. I felt useless in a way but just briefly. I adjusted and moved on. I read more, stay active, am available to assist family and in laws when necessary. It's all good.

Am semi-retired and enjoy the flexibility. Set my own schedule, hours. Could likely shut all work down in about nine months but doubt I will. Am paid well for what I do, don't deal with office politics and am pretty much left alone to do my thing.
Don't believe sitting around would suit me.

Favorite time of the day is morning coffee while reading the newspaper (yeah, I still do that) and thinking how great to not worry about traffic. I busy myself during the day by looking for ways to maximize the benefits of my privilege.

I'm retired from FedGov hazardous duty career so I left at age 50. I took one glorious year off and was hired to resume that career on a State level in Florida.
I find that I'm really enjoying myself in my second career. I realized quickly that I enjoyed my work because it gives me purpose.
Also, being retired, I had to step up and do menial shite that my wife does. It sucks. Order is now restored.
Also, I'm rolling in money I get paid twice now.

Retired last September. Every day is Saturday. My retirement pension is as much as my salary when I did work, and in years to come when prices go up as they always do, I have the 401k sitting there, now invested in stocks waiting to get into the game and contribute to the cause. I love not having to work.

The worst thing about being retired is you never get a day off. But every day is the weekend.

I get to hunt and fish on weekdays. Let the working guys fight the weather/crowds on Saturday. No quotas or pressure anymore.

Wanted to add that I just returned from a week in Colorado. Fished for three days and we are headed to Destin with a friend and his wife to stay at their beach house for a week. In Oct., it's off to Wyoming for a big game hunt before duck season starts. Retirement is great to say the least. Invest all you can when you are young.

My Grandparents on my Mother's side both did part time stuff when they retired from the phone company. She got her real estate license and he piddled and did some odd jobs, kept up Maintenance of their rental property, etc for a couple of years. By the time they turned 60 though, they hung that stuff up. It was all about enjoying life, taking care of the garden , doing some traveling, etc.
My Grandmother passed on 15 years ago but Grandaddy has truly won the game. In two years he will have been retired longer than he worked.

Don't have to wait until retirement for this stuff. Just work to live instead of living to work.
