Germany to fine social media sites over "hate speech"

Nazis always return to their roots. It cannot be fixed.
" Social media companies operating in Germany face fines of as much as $57 million if they do not delete illegal, racist or slanderous comments and posts within 24 hours under a law passed on Friday....
...The law will take effect in October, less than a month after nationwide elections, and will apply to social media sites with more than two million users in Germany.
It will require companies including Facebook, Twitter and Google, which owns YouTube, to remove any content that is illegal in Germany — such as Nazi symbols or Holocaust denial — within 24 hours of it being brought to their attention."
Example 45,629 on how Germans are the scum the earth and do not need to hold any sort of power, ever. History is perpetual...

Germany just helped add 100,000 new American jobs to review all that content.

We love our free speech hating EU governments, don't we folks?

Germans are some of the best people you'll ever meet.
Germany hasn't had a legit shot at self-determination since WWI.

I was talking to a German couple who were on vacation and was just asking them about Europe in general because I have never been. I casually mentioned how I always wanted to go to Normandy to see the memorials there. They immediately changed their body language to a very uncomfortable and awkward demeanor. It was really odd to see them change so quickly. It's really a shame how they've been beaten into such a shameful state of submission over WWII.

Holy shite! TD would be fricked.

The majority of Europe has never been free.
The EU is the next Reich. Their goal is to circumnavigate our constitution through "treaties" that are not voted in our senate. Stay woke, friends.

Didn't the EU lay a massive fine against Google earlier this week? Followed by Merkel's "anti-protectionism speech" Yeah, like US's global corporations are gonna actually do that and destroy trillions of wealth. Seems to me they are attacking US corporations and revenues....
Such bullshite, so transparent what she's trying to do. Drive international business into Germany/EU and away from US. After all we have done for their country and economy...first chance they get they stab us in the back, and throw a shite fit when the US re-asserts themselves on the world stage. Such great allies.

We've got the most powerful card in the deck - their national defense. If we pull out, they're pretty much going to have their asses hanging in the breeze.

Can we keep it that way?
Why?
These people weren't even born when the war happened. It's stupid and we should all move on.

quote:Pretty much the exact opposite in this case. Leftist speech control, and they target Germany harder than any other place because of their past.
Nazis always return to their roots
This is leftism gone unchecked, not the return of Nazism, make no mistake. They seem like the same thing because they're both heavily authoritarian.

I just don't see the upside, long term. Why share power when you don't have to? Why even invite the wolf back into the kitchen, when history has given it multiple chances and failed miserably?
If we take those bases out, they re-arm, re-tech, get even more confidence, and they are even a bigger PITA. Keeping them weak might be 'unfair', but if it's unfair in our advantage....that's not a bad thing. I admit it's a fine line, maybe impossible to toe perfectly in 2017, but we can't lose sight of their perpetual conquest-y nature...ever.
The West is more peaceful and prosperous when there is only one chef in the kitchen, and one reserve currency dominating the world's economy.

Hate speech is a terrible thing to make illegal because it is so subjective.

That's ridiculous.

The EU is the next Reich.
This is retarded. The EU is closer to the next Soviet Union.
The Treaty of Versailles was the end of Western Civilization. We weakened Germany so much at the end of WWI that their choices eventually became:
1. Assert extreme nationalism and throw off the Weimar Republic (which we and England installed) and its oppressive penalties.
2. Submit to the westward expansion of the USSR.
Those are the two options Germany was left with.
If we had made more of an ally (and less of an "example") of Germany after WWI, we could have avoided WWII, and avoided the Cold War.
Instead, we were faced with an enemy in a hyper-nationalist Germany, and in destroying them, paved the road for Communist expansion over half of Europe for 50 years. This is also why we fought and died in Korea, and Vietnam, and had Rocky IV.

I don't know what color the sky is in your world, but the West is dying on our watch. "We" have weakened Germany and Europe to the point that they are committing suicide. The current trajectory is a Muslim/Nuclear France, and then eventually UK.

This. The EU countries are more concerned with allowing foreigners to come in and dominate their lands than they are with taking over other countries.
