There is no reason to believe he will stay after this extension is up. We will never be competitive. AD will go join a super team while we pay jrue fricking holiday type idiots max contracts.

Dell won't let AD or Cousins walk without accumulating a shite ton of first round picks. Either way the team has a bright future. You could easily get 3/4 first rounders and young talent for Cousins/AD.

He's already teamed up with another top 20 player which is pretty rare.

To have a better starting point than teaming up with Cousins it'd have to be a Miami Big 3 type situation, an opportunity he wouldn't have until he can opt out of the last year of his contract in the 2020 offseason.

Thanks for proving my point.

Look we have no idea what this offseason holds for the Pelicans. Everything is in a holding pattern until Jrue decides what he is going to do. And I'm sure Dell is going to get into the act, see what's out there, and sell the opportunity to play with the best front court tandem since Duncan and Robinson

I didn't prove your point at all. 1 of 2 things is probably going to happen next year. DeMarcus Cousins will sign a 5 year max with the Pels and AD will sign the new extension where he gets like $50 million more from the Pels than he could from anyone else, locking in both with the Pels for their 3rd contract. Or Cousins leaves and it's time to start looking into AD trades. This is a make or break year for the Pels.

You seriously trust Dell fricking Demps to navigate this off season properly?

Making this team a playoff team this season does not take a genius GM. The tricky part and where Demps can and is likely to screw things up is paying Holiday so much that the team gets stuck at Clippers level "good but not good enough". That wouldn't prevent Cousins from resigning or AD from extending, but it could lead the Pels to implode like the Clippers are doing 5 years from now.

Super teams have really stolen my joy of watching the NBA.

Sucks knowing your team will never have a chance.

to be a fan is to be optimistic and hope your management can put a competitive team on the court. We got DMC nothing. You know who did that? Dell f****** Demps. Sure he's made some horrendous moves in the past but excuse me for being optimistic about what Dell can pull off. Why are you even wasting your time following the Pels or posting on this board if you have no confidence in Dell? Or is it just that youre just looking for something to be bitch and moan about?

I was going to type up a whole post about "A Tale of Two GMs: Morey and Demps", about how Morey is constantly making things happen while Demps is a goddamn chump.

I started typing and then got super depressed and didn't have the energy.

You have that right but you're bitching doesn't do you or anyone else any good. Seems like a waste of time and energy to try and bring other people down to your level of misery.

Given New Orleans' historical performance with keeping superstar players around, I've already accepted the fact that AD will leave in a few years. So, I'm enjoying him while he's here. I have zero faith in Dell's ability to build a competitive team around AD/DC.
