Which Supreme Court Justices are considered conservative?

Here's a list of the current Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court:
Chief Justice John Glover Roberts, Jr. is 62 (DOB: 27 January, 1955).
Justice Ruth Joan Bader Ginsburg is 84 (DOB: 15 March, 1933).
Justice Anthony McLeod Kennedy is 80 (DOB: 23 July, 1936).
Justice Stephen Gerald Breyer is 78 (DOB: 14 August 1938).
Justice Clarence Thomas is 69 (DOB: 23 June, 1948).
Justice Samuel Anthony Alito, Jr. is 67 (DOB: 1 April, 1950).
Justice Sonia Sotomayor is 63 (DOB: 25 June, 1954).
Justice Elena Kagan is 57 (DOB: 28 April, 1960).
Justice Neil Gorsuch is 49 (DOB: August 29, 1967).
If they were grouped or ranked, where would they fall in terms of conservative or liberal in their interpretation of the constitution?
Which ones may retire during the current administration?

Conservative: Roberts, Thomas, Gorsuch, and Alitto
Swing: Kennedy
Liberal: RGB, Sotomayor, Kagan and Breyer
Ginsberg is 83 and Kennedy is 81. RGB may die, and Kennedy wants to retire. Breyer is also 78, so he's could retire or die. Thomas apparently, though a little younger than those, has been wanting to retire for some time.

The answer gets a lot more interesting with the cases that aren't in the media/political spotlight.

They're all authoritarians. The "conservative" justices are usually pro-individual liberty on economic issues but horrible on many social issues or law and order cases. The "liberal" justices are ok on some of the law and order cases but favor expanding the authority of state in most instances.
The last doctrinaire libertarian on the court was William O. Douglas, who would never sniff being nominated in today's society.

this sums it up well.
POTUS, especially if re-elected, has potential to set a hard conservative court for generations to come.

The team of Scalia/RBG was actually a fairly good one for 4th Amendment issues, about the only thing RBG ever got right.

I agree with you on that, but Scalia's opinion in Gonzales vs. Raich was the most intellectually dishonest and incongruent opinion I've ever read, especially given the precedent in the Lopez and Morrison cases.

Yea, the court's generalized makeup is much less true in criminal cases.

The whole Commerce Clause is out of control. Wickard and all of the cases stemming from the War on Drugs are two of the biggest tragedies in our jurisprudence.

Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch are conservative
Sotomeyor, Kagan, Breyer, and RBG are liberals
Roberts and Kennedy are swing voters

Now that he's carrying the Scalia flame (hell Thomas was more rigid than Scalia) there is nobody close to F-you jurisprudence on the court.
The "other conservatives" on the court are only conservative (whatever that political term really means in law) or more accurate - strict constructionists or originalists like Thomas - because they are not crazy liberals who expand the powers of the court and put everything under the ever growing rainbow umbrella of the constitution.
But there's nobody who was like Scalia and Thomas...old tag team...going old school all the time, everytime.

If Trump can get his arse re-elected we will have a 7-2 court for at least a couple decades
It is an absolute must
All resources must be expended to get him reelected
Unless of course those activist fricks die in the next 3 and a half years to make it easy

I know we have a small sample size right now, but looks like Gorsuch is living up to the billing so far.

Anthony Kennedy has been the most powerful man in the United States for 20 years or more. I don't care how unassuming you are, that must be very difficult to walk away from.

What makes Roberts a swing? One vote in a big case that you didn't like?
