Costa Rica - Tamarindo Fishing Charter
Posted on 6/25/17 at 9:36 pm

I am going to Costa Rica in July and want to plan a fishing trip. I would really appreciate any recommendations of charter boats that anyone has used in the past. I am hoping to go billfishing but may end up doing more inshore fishing based on the kids. Thanks in advance.

Tamarindo, playa langosta

I love tamarindo but it's not really the best area of CR for fishing. I'd just pick a good rated one from tripadvisor and go with it.
Great surfing beach.

someone else had a thread here about fishing charters in costa rica this weekend. I'll see if I can find it.
ETA: Sorry, the other thread was actually about Beilze.

I'm not sure if Danny Crosby still fishes that area or not.
If not, he can probably recommend someone for you.
Pura Vida!

What dates are you going? My wife and I will be in that area(Secrets Papagayo) from the 19-24 and I have been talking to a charter captain in the area about setting up a whole day trip. I was looking to try and split it with another couple if possible. I also have another guy who owns his own charter boat down there and will be going back down there towards the end of our trip who my wife and I may jump on board when they go out.

We went to Costa Rica this past February. We booked our charter trip with Maverick Sportfishing in Los Suenos 12 months in advance. I'd be hesitant to book an offshore charter that still has availability less than a month away

This isn't Los Suenos. That is a whole other animal there. The area he is going and I am going are on the north side of Costa Rica near Liberia.

I do not believe any guanacaste area boats run to the sea mounts/FADS. Those boats run from herradura and quepos.

I was in Tamarindo in May and was considering booking a charter and was told by a local the same thing. Said the fishing isn't the best around Tamarindo.
