I'd like to see Gilbert throw 3 and then the first time he gets a runner in scoring position, you bring in Hess. Hess closes that inning out, pitches 1-2 more. Then play matchups all the way until the 8th, when you give it to Newman. Let Newman do what he's been groomed to do all year long.

You let Gilbert go until he can't anymore or he's no longer effective, plain and simple. If he gets you 6 complete innings I think Hess will pitch the last 3 anything less than that and you'll probably see a bridge pitcher somewhere in there to get it to Hess.
