How about cops doing their job using only the force required. How about letting the system they swore to uphold do its job.
How do you know they didn't? The system do its job...
A convicted murderer is alive to file suit on his own behalf and will have his day in court AGAIN.

Piece of shite deserved it. Who cares if they beat the shite out of him.
How about you don't kill a cop, or anyone for that matter, in the first place. If you kill someone, you deserve no sympathy, nor should you have any right to NOT have your arse kicked.
And who gets to make the determination that he is guilty before caving his face in? I'm not making judgement one way or another way on his guilt, but I don't like the idea of police getting free reign to do this kind of shite because they decide you're guilty.
This is why we have constitutional rights. Not to protect the rights of the guilty, but to protect the rights of everyone from the blindness of self righteous emotion in those who are charged with enforcing the law.

Someone who gets it
If the state puts on enough evidence to convict him of murdering a JPSO deputy the guy will rightfully rot in jail for his life or be put to death. The police aren't also jury and judge.

Saw a video a while back where a Mexican cartel captured a rival cartel hit man. They cut his legs off at the shins, cut his hands off and then cut his head off. That's pretty much what this piece of shite deserves. He got off easy. He took an arse whooping and will sit in a jail cell for the rest of his life

If they needed to beat him to arrest him, fine. But, if they could have arrested him without the beating then they broke the law themselves.
Some on here are not a as much law and order they claim to be. The law does not allow for the police to needlessly brutalized someone that breaks the law. There is no exception for shooting a cop.
I am all for executing the convicted murderer but I think the police should be expected to obey the law as well.

Countersue for what? You think that POS has anything of value?
He would after winning his suit against the officers.
He sues officers for excessive force....gets compensated
Deceased officer's family sues him for wrongful death....takes compensation.
I like it.

The video of the arrest is not very incriminating. The punches thrown are very soft looking, almost as if the officer is trying NOT to do any significant damage. There are much lower profile pain compliance techniques to use other than hand strikes (techniques that look less abusive on video), particularly when someone is on the ground.
It's possible the guy's face got messed up after the arrest.
I'm sure it was an emotional moment for the cops, but I do wish more LEOs would show restraint in not giving criminals and their families a future pay day at taxpayer expense. Excessive force payouts only encourage more resistance.

Damn they sure did beat the frick out of him. Maybe they should've hit him in the body instead of the face

The guy will get free room and board for the foreseeable future.
My thing is, there really isn't consequences for this guy killing a cop. He was going to go to jail either way.

Did they not seek the death penalty?

They are. It's been over a year now, he's still alive. I guess that's what I'm getting at.
There are no real consequences for guys like him. He had already been to jail, would most likely have ended up in jail doing other shady shite and prob wasn't looking at a very long prosperous life anyway.
He has taken a life while his is being extended.

All you need to do is pass a law that authorizes the police to beat those arrested for certain crimes. Surely killing a police officer would be on such a list.

He shot Officer Michel in the back 3 times, resisted arrest, is pleading not guilty, and is suing 28 people for his broken face.
A guy may be a piece of shite, but it is for a jury not police to make that determination.
The ability to not act like an animal is the difference between trash like this guy and good police officers/citizens.

I agree with you on not breaking the law for officers. All I'm pointing out is this guy would have been on easy Street if all that happened was he was arrested and taken to jail.
So I'm not really outraged he got beat up.
