Coverage of the College World Series averaged 923,000 viewers across ESPN’s TV and digital platforms through Monday, up 95% from last year and the highest average at this point of the tournament since 2011. Keep in mind five of the first six games aired on the flagship ESPN network, compared to just one of the first six last year. [ESPN PR 6.21]

Think LSU had anything to do with this?

Think NCAA should take notice if they want their ratings to continue into the championship series?

Of course, LSU had everything to do with it. LSU baseball draws the biggest ratings out of all the college programs. Of all the CWS games, New Orleans tv market is obliterating everyone. Now, I'm just going to go out on a limb that they were tuning in for LSU instead of Florida, Louisville, TCU, etc.

ESPN would probably like LSU to hang in the College World Series as long as possible.

Through six CWS games heading to tonight's 6 p.m. CWS elimination game between LSU and Florida State, New Orleans is the highest-rated local market with a 7.1 local rating, followed by Louisville (2.8) and Portland, Ore. (2.1).

The New Orleans market earned a 14.4 and a 14.0 local rating for LSU's first two games: vs. Florida State (June 17) and Oregon State (June 19), respectively. The ratings are second and third highest in the market for any CWS game since 2009, notably better than any game in 2015 when LSU last played in Omaha.
