I just moved to Gulf Shores to work and enjoy the beach. Eventually I want to move onto the back bay in the orange beach area, but right now I'm 5 minutes from the beach and about to buy a Hobie Kayak to start fishing. Traffic is terrible right now but so is traffic in BR.

We rented a place a few years ago, on the back side of Fort Morgan Road, on the bay just across from Bon Secours Wildlife Refuge. The house is in a wooded area, with close-ish neighbors, kind of like the suburbs but with lots of trees. It's about 13 miles from Bruno's grocery.
Loved it, even in mid-summer there's always shade somewhere, the beach is about two minutes ride away, but also easily reached on bicycle if you're so inclined. The worst part, to me, would be having to drive all the way into G.S. for groceries and Mass.
