Maybe I'm wrong as I don't live in the area, but I really don't think it was that big of a deal. He grew up in that district, and only lived a few miles outside of it. It probably influenced some votes, but not enough to swing the election.

Him being a Dem and getting so much money from outside groups are why he lost. He had an uphill battle to begin with, and the outside money didn't help.

And he did say he would move to the district had he won.

It may not have caused the loss, but in such a close and important race with that much money spent, why risk it over something so simple to correct?

He literally just needed to lease a new apartment. He didn't even have to live in it.

He could have moved in with a roommate in the district.
