List is trash without

Rocket Ismail
Pat Fitzgerald
Michael Crabtree
Peter Warrick
Luke Kuechly
Ron Simmons
Jack Ham
or Chris Zorich

Take out NFL HOFers who were clearly much better pros than college players like LT, Lott, Elway, Singletary, Bruce Smith and even Peyton Manning. Also QBs overrated due to their supporting cast like Wuerfful and Leinart.

I agree with this.

I don't know if I agree with all the names, but only because I disagree with Manning, he was great at Tennessee, and I really have no recollection of the others college careers.

And here, I think you are letting their NFL performances affect your opinion. Systems and teams are what they are and part and parcel of the evaluation. Both guys were fantastic in college as players. Wuerfful, in particular, was the epitome of the great in college but sucks as a pro QB. Just my opinion of course.

At Stanford, John Elway led the nation in TD passes his senior year, won Pac-10 Player of the Year twice, graduated with nearly every Stanford and conference passing record, 1982 consensus all-American, 2nd in Heisman voting, and passed for over 200 yards in 30 of his 42 games and is a member of the College Football HOF. Those accomplishments merit his inclusion on the list.

Rocket was the first that came to mind for me, too, especially if they have Deion Sanders so high. Rocket was Reggie Bush-like in college.

I mean, I don't see how a program with three titles (and a fourth if you extend the time period a year) doesn't have at least one player on a list like this.

Tim Brown, Joe Montana, Joe Theismann, Jerome Bettis, Ricky Watters, Zorich, Ross Browner, Bob Crable, Dave Casper, etc. could all be on there. Alan Page should definitely been in the top half of any list like this if it was stretched one more year.

Remove Wuerffel, insert Charlie Ward.

Remove Singletary, insert Dat Nguyen. If you compare COLLEGE production between the two it isn't even close. In fact, it's criminal (I'd venture to say racist) that Dat wasn't the 1998 Butkus winner over Chris Claiborne (Jevon Kearse was the third finalist and CLAIBORNE won it?)
