IWB for Open Carry

Can an IWB holster be used for open carry legally in Louisiana? Is there a rule on what % of the firearm must be visible? I tried googling but couldn't find a straight answer. I have a Glock 22 and will almost definitely never open carry it but am wondering if it is legal.
I don't have a CC license yet and sold my shield since I found it to be a lemon compared to the one i rented at the range. Also, what are your thoughts on the Taurus PT1111 millennium G2 (12+1) at 199.99 vs m&p shield (8+1)?

Why would you use an IWB to OC?

I have no idea. I had bought an iwb and owb for my shield and the iwb seemed so much more comfortable for me. I am very new to guns (2 years) and bought my first pistol 6 months ago. Any recs on owb holsters?

I'm no holster expert but I'd warn you against an IWB if you don't have a permit. One simple mistake, your shirt covers your weapon, and you could get in some trouble.

I prefer IWB as well. Less movement and more comfortable with a good holster. I have a new XDs with a blade tech IWB that I forget is there.

My rec is don't open carry in public, but you have to be one of "those guys", at least use a holster with some active retention.

the best holsters I have ever owned have come from Wright leather works. They even have a holster called the cobra which can be used for IWB and OWB.

I wouldn't just for the fact that you run the risk of accidentally concealing it and getting arrested.

I'd suggest a bit larger gun since you're relatively new to handguns, an M&P 9c or M&P 9, Glock 19 or 23 are a bit larger and most find them easier to handle.
I would also strongly advise against open carry. The whole point, to me, of being armed is to be concealed, open carry will just draw attention to yourself. Get that CCL ASAP

If not being used for concealment: Safariland:ALS, GLS, or 7TS
Safariland is probably the best bang for the buck for open carry holsters.
You can spend more and get more holster, but the increased costs are probably not worth it from a pure cost/benefit analysis.
I'm not as familiar with 7TS - the main difference between the ALS and the GLS is the release. ALS probably requires a few more reps to "get it" - and at the same time offers better retention from someone else trying to draw it. The GLS is a more modern design and probably better from a pure ease and tactical application standpoint.
Either choice is top notch.

Lots of good advice given in this thread.
No comparison between reliability & quality of Shield vs. Millennium. Between those two, get the Shield.
But a "full size" pistol (like G19 or an M&P9 or M&P9c) holds more ammo and is easier to control.
Don't open carry unless you just have to. And even then you need some really good handgun retention training before you start.
Get a permit and carry concealed. There are plenty (dozens)of good IWB and OWB holsters.
OWB will be faster, while IWB will generally conceal the gun better for a lot of people (particularly those that are rotund or insist on wearing tight shirts).
