Seems like a poor investment if a scholarship is legitimately the main motivation for any of that. Odds of actually getting a scholarship for baseball or pageants is very low on an individual basis. One would think that enjoyment or life lessons would be necessary or prestige or something along those lines. If scholarships are what they really are after then they would probably get a better return from just spending that time studying.

yes it is so strange that women are vein and want to be put on a pedestal to be adored and admired for their beauty, and then compete to be chosen as better and more beautiful then all the other women around them.

That's true for everything, though, whether it's music, golf, football, basketball, or academics. In Louisiana, we have TOPS, so that helps a ton, but getting scholarships beyond TOPS is always a crapshoot. Remember, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, and someone HAS to win every pageant. Even if the odds are against you, there is going to be a winner.

Yeah, but studying costs a lot less monetarily than travel ball. People actually spend a lot of money on travel ball. If the goal is really higher education then they would probably just be better putting that money into an education savings account. I don't know how much pageants cost.

I agree. That's my opinion, but someone's gotta do it. Everything involving kids these days is stupid expensive. I try not to GAF to much about what other parents choose to spend their money on when it comes to extra-curriculars.
