It also gets hotter. I've had my BGE over 800 degrees, I had a Weber for over 10 years and I don't think it ever got over 550 degrees and that's being kind. When you get that cast iron grill 650+ degrees and throw some meat on there to sear its a thing of beauty to literally hear it. That's not something you can get with a lower end charcoal grill.
I also use considerably less charcoal, I probably use at least 2 bags less a year of charcoal. I have no idea, but it may be closer to 5. At $15/ bag+ for charcoal that adds up.

long time coal and wood cooker...
first runs with new kamado..
grilled bone in poke chops.. and crabmeat stuffed portabellos.....
then yard bird thighs slow cooked and roasted brocoli
both top notch...... almost idiot proof..... temp consistency and control.. unreal....
