I watched a lot of the trial in 95. Here's what happened:
He carved them up with a knife, and cut himself in the process. The cops blood trailed him back to his house. A blood trail that went from the scene, to his car, and then back to his house and into his washing machine. A blood trail that had his blood, and both the victim's blood. Confirmed by DNA.
Then, a jury with a median IQ of about 82 let him walk.
That's what happened.
