If you're not crawfishing or dipping shad, I'm not sure why you'd go skiff. If you go flat bottom, you can do what you want (cruise the basin) and fish easier.

A skiff is a nice alternative to mud hulls since they typically have a flat bottom and can be had used cheaper. Also nice having the pointed bow for timber but if you'll have an outboard, I don't see a skiff going to places you can't with a flat bottom and an outboard.

i have a 14ft aluminum flat bottom with a little outboard on the back. there aint many places i cant go.
