I don't know about Panera or Five Guys, but I know at Chick-fil-a the owner has to actually work at the business for a certain number of hours per week. They probably just fire shitty employees.

True, however I have yet to encounter a "bad" employee at any Chic-fil-A. They always seem so happy and very eager to please.

It's actually quite refreshing.

They also have very stringent requirements to own a franchise.

You can't just pony up money and say "I want a CFA store."

They do some heavy-duty screening to ensure every store is a well-oiled operation.
