Spraying the driver

I've been slicing the ball then over compensating to a hook. I was wondering if y'all had any suggestions on how to fix the problem.

Choke down an inch, take a 3/4 swing, and try to imagine your are swinging your 3 wood. Don't try to shape it or kill it, just try to hit a smooth 3/4 shot into the fairway and watch it go further than you imagine and stay playable. This game is a finicky bitch, sometimes you have to just stroke her.

1st: I have learned that the driver shaft is everything. If you are spraying left and right it's probably that.
2nd: Check your ball position
3rd: check your distance from the ball. When I want a big cut, I move closer.
Good luck, but #1 is probably it. Stock shafts don't work for everyone especially if you are a silverback like me.

Strengthen your left hand a touch

Saw something one about how Payne Stewart used to practice.
Hit 3 100yd shots, then 3 drives. Try to swing at the same pace with your driver as you do with the wedge. Repeat a few times.
Helped me with Tempo a good bit, which kind of sounds like your issue.

What's your driver's name, private?

Figure out which way it wants go go on the range, then go with that.
I even take my own advice about that once in a while

your left wrist is getting bent out of shape at the top of your swing & you are dropping the club outside to in on your downswing
Get a small book and place between your palms - take backswing and keep the front of the book pointed up at the sky at the top....not back to the ground out beyond your right shoulder.

Sounds like you are coming in steep at impact. round out your takeaway and the club will want to follow the same path back to the ball...Boom Town!

Great advice! I try to imagine sweeping the club back, trying to slide it on the turf as long as possible until my natural arc picks it up. Then on the range, I will put a tee in the ground about 9"-12" in front of the ball on the same line as the target. I will imagine I am trying to pick that tee up on my follow through. This makes sure you take the club back on the correct plane and stay straight through the ball on impact.

The proper shaft helped me a lot.

You're probably playing to long of a shaft. Most of today's gimmicks dea with shafts that are a bit long. If you're in the position financially, try to find a 5 wood shaft (weight and flex specific to what you feel confident with), and slap it in there. I started playing a 5 wood shaft no its been a fairway finder. Choking down can help, but the grip 9near the logo) is really slim, and will add to the hooks. Just my 02.
