Good point. In the midst of an investigation where he found a laundry list of actual criminal activity, his boss gives him a gag order after a secret meeting with the suspects husband.
No reason to write a memo, but that mean ole Trump...

I don't think I said "assumption". If I did I apologize. Trump has been shown numerous times to be a liar.
Are all politicians liars? Probably. Are they as obvious about it as Trump? Usually not.

Several reasons...
Lynch said what she said to many people, not privately to Comey.
Lynch isn't a well known liar like Trump.
The directive to refer to something as a "matter" publicly instead of an "investigation" isn't out of line with DOJ protocol. Especially when you consider that they knew the Trump campaign was under investigation and never admitted it publicly.
