Damn well it must be more widespread then I thought.
As for towing with jackplate up, lol I cringe when I see it. Your suppose to always tow with it in the down position but hey that's just what my owners maunal says lol

It would seem that towing with it down would be the only way to do it without causing damage. Thats a lot of weight and Leverage pulling down on the back of your boat.
