How do you see RB depth shaking out after this season?

And does it give you any pause?
Assuming Guice goes pro and no one transfers, after this season the only RBs on the roster will be:
Nick Brossette Sr.
Lanard Fournette Jr.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire So.
Obviously that doesn't account for incoming freshmen, so they can hopefully sign one or two immediate impact guys. Missing out on Cam Akers was huge.

This depth chart should have every top RB interested in coming to LSU. Especially if Guice has a great year in Canada's system. A top tier back can come in and get some carries in their first season.

For the first time in a long time I'm worried about the depth at rb. You're right, losing Cam Akers was HUGE. Hopefully CEH is better than we expect and tears shite up.

For a school that relies so heavily on running the ball, this coaching staff sure has failed at every turn to put some good depth on the roster.
I thought O was a recruiter? Seems Jimbo beat him at every turn last cycle (Akers and Wilson)
Gonna be fun trotting Brossette and a 5'4" RB out there against Bama in 2018

Yep. A good friend of mine mentioned it in passing and I immediately scoffed at the thought. Nope, it is pretty bleak after this year. The last two years of bad RB recruiting are rearing their ugly head.

You can't hold a gun to a kids head and make him to go to LSU. You win some you lose some.

As of now it definitely appears to be a step down. We have been spoiled pretty bad the last few years. Two first round RBs ( potentially) in back to back seasons will do that.

I see we better recruit hard because the depth is underwhelming atm.

We don't have to assume. He's already said he's leaving after this year:

I'm almost out. All he has to do is literally chill for one more year and relax until I'm out, and he's got a brother who has a chance to make millions and take care of him.

Depth is a problem bur CEH is a stud.

Get a national recruit like James Cook this cycle then load up in 2019 with Cain,Davis, and Emory. LSU will be just fine at RB.

And then he failed to bring any of the top talent in.
This isn't a problem to anyone? We have one SEC caliber back on the roster and he's gone after this year. O has been recruiting since 2015. He couldn't figure something out by now?
Hell he couldn't get the back up plan RB to come last year. A kid from Jennings. I thought O was "one of us". He can't even bring in LA RB talent?

I don't think you can blame Akers on O. Les Miles had all his eggs in Akers' basket so blame him. Etienne is the one you can blame O for. He could have offered him the day Les got fired and maybe he would be in P&G today.

Fully expect to pick up two differenc makers at RB this recruiting season. Don't think for a second that guys haven't been looking at our RB's the last couple years and going elsewhere. That won't be the case this coming year.
Clyde will be a good back for us, but we will have 2 difference makers sign this year.

Losing some recruits comes with the territory of a coaching transition. O did a great job under the circumstances. We went +/- three months with no official HC and he held the class together and even poached commts from other schools. I'll forgive him not filling a few position needs.

This is very over-stated. Guys at the RB position no longer want to be the sole back taking 20-25 carries a game for 2-3 years. They want to be able to split carries and have the opportunity to showcase themselves for a year before going pro. It was just bad recruiting on behalf of both Miles and Orgeron. And that puts the program in a position where is simply cannot afford to miss on a RB recruit this year and next, and the chances of that are slim.

Plus Jeremy hill for two years before that. We'll sign two running backs this year too. That's not bad depth, we've just grown accustomed to a ridiculously high standard the last 5 years.

We need Mike Damone, & a Big-Time Running Back.

"bad recruiting" might be over stated as well.
Specifically, I think it would be difficult to hold Ogeron accountable for last years lack of RB recruits. Additionally, if he manages to land Cam Akers last year we are all assuming we have another three years of dominance at the position.
