Anyone been yet? Looks like it has potential just by scanning the menu.

I think this is the second week it was open. I drive by frequently. I went in last week and will give it another shot in a month or so. I imagine that the BBQ is being done with a big Southern Pride gas cooker as I don't ever see or smell smoke.

I went & my opinion was that there is no way the place remains open long. Despite its name, it's not really a BBQ joint; the menu makes zero sense. Best thing on tap was Rebirth, which I ordered and was promptly brought a Lawnmower.

Didn't drink, so I just glanced at the taps from across the restaurant. Seemed mostly Louisiana stuff, only one I remember was Canebrake. I think there was an LA31 tap too.

Im always skeptical of places like this. Why put "Smokehouse" in the name when BBQ isn't your main focus? Should have named it Grillhouse or something generic like that.
BTW that location is cursed. Everything comes and goes there.

They better turn and burn some tables or it won't last a year. Rent at that location is fricking ridiculous. Landlord runs every restaurant out of business there.

That location would be very solid with the right chef/concept. Look at the business Station 6 is doing. I am glad the property is back operating even if this incarnation gives way to something else.

Agreed but everything there has always put out mediocre food. Station 6 is fantastic because the owners are/were chefs.
Edit::: I see where one of the owners has a culinary degree. Will wait and see what happens.

I've heard that from several people. Someone I know had looked at it a while back and said there was a bunch of work that needed to be done with the sewage system or something and the landlord was kind of a prick about it.

Is there a separate barbeque menu I'm missing? All I see is a standard non-barbeque menu.

Yeah, read under the smokehouse section.
I kind of like that they aren't just BBQ. Might give them a better chance of surviving.

I think I'm finally going there tomorrow night. Had tried a few times to get in, but the crowds were always too big.

This place is hard to beat in Metairie. Owners originally started Vega Tapas.
