Ruger has just announced a safety recall for their new MKIV pistols. Apparently certain guns have been found to have the ability to fire when the safety is placed between the “safe” and “fire” positions and the trigger is pulled. The potential also exists for the gun to fire when the safety is moved from the mid positition to “fire” after pulling the trigger and not having a round discharge

Ruger recently discovered that all Mark IV™ pistols (including 22/45™ models) manufactured prior to June 1, 2017 have the potential to discharge unintentionally if the safety is not utilized correctly

Not long ago Walther announced a recall for their CCP pistols that discharge when dropped. Ruger has issued several recalls over the years -- the most famous ones involving lawsuits related to their Blackhawk. Glock didn't formally issue a recall (but should have) on their old "E" series pistols and on the Gen 4's that needed updated guide rod assemblies.
I don't trust any firearm until it has at least a 5 year track record.

for real. Aready difficult to find a MKIV Hunter. This won't help if only the ones built after last week can be sold. It may be a year or more before things return to their already low stock.

Probably faster to buy and send in for repair. They give you a free 10 round mag too. I'll let y'all know my progress...filled out the form this morning.

Thanks for posting. I have a 22/45 that is eligible. I'll see if I can get it to dry-fire screw up tonight.

Thanks for the heads up. Couldn't reproduce the problem on my mark IV but it's in the recall window so time to send it back. And get a free mag out of it

My 22/45 was built in 2006 so I think it's alright
