I am going by what I witnessed in the game itself
Bama was overmatched early.
McCoy was moving the ball all over the field in his few early plays and Bama went 3 and out moving backwards then turned the ball over
It would have been then 14-0 Texas. That would have taken the running game out of the game even more. Bama could not throw because Texas had Earl Thomas out there. The same player that turned Seattle's D so dominating.

It's fascinating how the 2001 Miami team keeps getting more and more praise, in retrospect, due to the NFL careers of its players.
At the time, I remember lots of people griping about their extremely weak Big East schedule. They were also very fortunate to escape Blacksburg with a win at the end of the season.
To be sure, they were a fantastic team. I just find the historical trajectory interesting.

And that was early in the game. More often than not, what happens early in the game does not equal what will happen throughout a game.

He had 9 total yards so I'm not sure how that equates moving the ball all over the field.

How? Bama didn't want the throw the ball because McElroy was hurt and it still was early in the game so why not run? The fact remains Ingram and Richardson still ran for 100+ yards and a pair of TDs each. It doesn't matter that Texas defense stopped it early because it still ended up happening.
quote:I'm not saying McElroy would've thrown for as many yards as he did versus Florida but even just 50 additional yards could've extended a drive or led to a TD.
Bama could not throw because Texas had Earl Thomas out there.
And once again you're complaining about McCoy getting hurt when Texas may have not even been there if Bradford hadn't got hurt.
