There's no sense at all in remaking a classic.
It will either be too different, in which case it's just a bastardization.

What's sad is all they have to do is remaster the graphics, music, perhaps do voice acting, make the game more difficult and maybe add some more enemies, bosses, or side quests. You don't have to change the combat or turn it into episodes, just do the above and it'll be a hit.
