We are not a rich state, but our gas tax is the same as Texas. We should be able to operate well with that don't you think, but we all know we can't. We need twice as much on a gallon of gas because we have so much inefficiency, waste and abuse to cover.

You can't compare our road maintenance needs to Texas.

We have more bridges, less stable ground for roads, and a vastly smaller population.

Not to mention the gas tax funds so much more infrastructure needs than Texas has. Like our levie system and canals. And ferries, maritime needs, ports.

We have vastly more funding needs than Texas.

And quit bringing general funding into a discussion of infrastructure funding. They cannot be reallocated to each other in this state. We need to rewrite the state constitution, but nobody will do it.

And I've been labeling the State Police as corrupt for years on here.

Don't bring that up now. When Jindal signed that, this website applauded the move. Y'all said it was great that the LSP was getting funds to help them "protect" us and deserved that money for pay raises. And new vehicles.

You can't tax a population but so much. You can't ignore all the taxes to justify making gas taxes one of the highest rates in the nation.

And you can't ignore the fact that the same corrupt, inefficient crowd that runs the state is the same crowd that is in charge of roads and bridges. They'll waste half the money on their cronies and in the people in BR will be stuck with one lane on I-10.

The fact that the situation has existed for thirty years and they build a bridge in St Francidvilke proves my point. I don't trust them.
