Thank god. I don't mind tracking at all and have been for a while, just Mfp is easy and I am not going to use something that sucks.
For me tracking is easy as I meal prep anyways.

My goal is to have a physique similar to your after pic in the transformation thread I have no real desire to have a BF low enough to reveal abs
It's a good goal and honestly if you lift three times a week and just track protein and cals, that level is keepable and will still allow you to have a normal social life.
For reference I am 5'10" and in that picture I am at 182@14% bf, so 156 lbs of muscle. Arms were right under 15" there.

yeah MFP makes it easy, I just started tracking about a week ago. I was pretty surprised to see I was below where my protein intake needed to, thinking it was killing my recovery

I'm 6'3" and feel like 210-215 would get me close
I've been 200 before but it was straight cardio and was skinny fat af

Some people like to downplay the importance of tracking, but I think it's critical. I understand why it's not appealing for everyone, though.

I was on here shrugging it off a week ago, been doing it roughly a week now and my workouts have gotten much better. Energy levels were down and I was pretty irritable during the day.
I guess as you age you have to pay more attention to maintenance. Still sort of struggling with hitting my macros aside from protein on the nose but getting better, keep coming up short on carbs and fat

Haha yea it's eye opening for most people.

As a person who doesn't self-regulate eating very well, I really can't lose weight without tracking. I don't understand how anyone does.. I don't seem to have that intuition that some people have built-in. Probably stems from an entire lifetime of learning nothing but poor eating habits.
I don't know how anyone can make progress without tracking. And I love putting it all in my spreadsheet and having that feedback.
Anyway, if you're within 10% of your macros you're pretty set. The trick is to not get obsessed with hitting your macros exactly.. it can become consuming.

Well when you aren't tracking and measuring it's just easy to over eat on anything "ah yeah quinoa is good for me, I can have a bunch of this and be good" when in reality you've basically blown your carbs for the day with over a serving

Yep, unless you understand portions then you need to track and even then you should track at least once or twice a week.

Yeah I'm thinking over eating on "good carbs" and not quite enough protein for my activity level was my issue.

Down about 5lbs since I started tracking my macros. Started out at 195lbs 12.3% body fat (had it measured, not one of those machines)
Down to about 190-191, not sure how much the body fat is down to.

good genes
my issue was it just storing fat in my gut, thought it was age but seeing now it was diet.
also didn't realize how the lack of fat in my diet was hurting me.

Fwiw all the way down to about 179 and that’s with football weekends straying way off course
But as lean as I’ve been in years and feeling great.
