Nah PAC can still beat the top guys at this age

quote:Mayweather could've fought Kell Brook. He never would because Brook was dangerous. Instead he went out against Berto. Pac was younger but offensive fighters age quicker. Pac hasn't knocked anyone out since Cotto and Marques failed a PED test after KOing Manny. Pac in his prime would've most likely been countered into oblivion by Mayweather but that wasn't the point--he was a risk and Mayweather didn't take risks.
I see this as a testament to the greatness of Mayweather (Nobody would pick either fighter tonight to beat Floyd tomorrow). There's a false narrative that he waited for Manny to get old/slow to make the fight (even though Floyd is two years older). Also, people seem to forget that Pac hasn't knocked anyone out since agreeing to Floyd's initial demand of random blood/urine testing. Don't you think it's strange that he went from walking through punches from bigger fighters like Mosely, Hatton, Margarito, Clottey, and Cotto, to getting KO'd by the much smaller Marques?
Mayweather would never touch any of these guys even though he would've been favored against any of them and probably would have beaten them. A hypothetical 35 y/o Mayweather might look at Brook at this stage with 2 injured eyes as vulnerable enough to take on. Mayweather, as beautiful a fighter as he was, left a stench over the sport of gleefully ripping off fans while bragging in their faces about it. And if this Conor fight happens, he'll do it again.
Anyway, I really don't want to relitigate this tiresome subject. Sorry for mentioning Floyd's name.

Honestly what about Spence vs Cotto? Wouldn't do anything for Cotto but would make Spence a star if he could win decisively.

Well yeah Crawford has that style that would trouble PAC.
Top 5 Welterweights
1. Spence
2/3 PacMan
2/3 Thurman
4. Brook
5. Porter
Bradley would be in there but he hasn't fought in over a year now.

Spence surpassed Pac....

I agree without a doubt. I just think PAC has easy work with any welterweight except Spence and Thurman.

No, he didn't, please provide a link if I'm wrong.

There was no financial incentive to fight Kell Brook. His only significant win was against Shawn Porter. A fight in which he looked like a welterweight version of Wladimir Klitschko (1-2- hold, 1-2 hold). I agree that May vs Berto was a shite fight (should've been DSG) but Berto's resume > Brook's resume.

Pac has destroyed everybody he has fought since Mayweather. He was whipping Marquez and he got the 1 lucky punch in.

He's only fought two times since the Floyd the fight, and he didn't destroy either opponent. I'm willing to bet he won't destroy Jeff Horn in his next fight.

Pac has easily beat everyone since the Marquez defeat besides Mayweather including destroying Bradley again. And yes, he will easily beat Horn.

No, he didn't, please provide a link if I'm wrong.
I'll leave the Brooks - Berto debate for another thread and I don't want to discuss Floyd. I'm enjoying life after Floyd too much

Spence has been calling out Thurman for two years and all he does is make excuses. Now he has to man up.
Spence will clown Thurman, IMO.

Wasn't able to watch the fight earlier but just finished watching. So pumped man. I knew it was going to be a great fight.
This is just the beginning. I've been following this guy since the Olympics.

Hell of a fight.
You could see Brook losing confidence after the 7th round.
Spence is fun to watch. Brook had nothing to be ashamed of.

In his post fight interview he said that was part of the game plan after watching film on Brook. He wanted to pick up the pace to make him uncomfortable.
It was essentially a typical Errol Spence fight, his jab looked great, he worked the body, and he threw/landed combos.

I bet Amir Khan suddenly wants the Kell Brook fight....

Good fight, Brook had the Porter gameplan with all the holding he was doing, but I still had him winning most of the early rds. Spence put the money in the bank with those body shots, and he just fought more determined. He eventually walked Brook down like most of us thought he would and those GGG shots with the eye resurfaced and the rest is history.
Stylistically, I believe Brook was a tougher matchup than Thurman. Errol needs to work on fighting off his back foot. Kell was able to exploit that and land good clean shots in the earlier rounds. I doubt Thurman will be able to do the same. He doesn't back anyone up. Spence will make an effort to make Thurman uncomfortable early with body shots and cutting off the ring.
