I disagree. We let our Roomba go in our house about twice a week. It picks up a shite ton of stuff. Goes between hardwood/rug fine, no problem getting over thresholds between rooms. Well worth the money for us.

It vacuums the rug (wool) as good as our regular vacuum.

glad to hear that...mine was an early generation and I don't have a pet in the house, so it sounds like they have come a long way! I may try another one eventually.

Your regular vacuum must be garbage. My family has been buying Roombas for years and even at their best they are little better than manual carpet sweepers. That's all they can do, they don't have the power to do more than get the surface crud. That's fine for hard surfaces but not so much for carpets and rugs where most of the dirt is down in the fibers. If you're impressed with what that thing picks up then you should imagine what it's leaving behind.

OP, you'd have to be a pretty nasty and lazy person to imagine a robot vac will replace a normal vac. Get almost two commercial-grade Sanitaire vacuums for the price of a Roomba
