What are you fishing for? Trout/redfish sized fish.....then any bass reel will do, just keep it clean in salt water use. I use Lew's speed spools which aren't very expensive.
Larger fish usually ambassadeur 7000 (inexpensive) or calcutta 700 (expensive). I doubt you'll be fishing larger fish out of a yak, but I don't know the area. I've seen people catching 60lb tarpon out of yaks, so maybe its needed there. If I'm consistently catching 30+ on fish, I'd want something bigger.

We are going to be targeting wahoo and mahi mostly I already have a legit jigging setup and I'm hoping to catch monsters out here lol. Thanks for the recs I've been looking at the calcuttas not sure if I want to drop that much change lol
