I don't find him funny. Before I don't get it I do. I love Carlin, McDonald, Burr, CK and Geraldo. He is interesting I would have loved to have a beer with him but it's not that funny.

Everyone has a different sense of humor. I hate a lot of comedians other people love, and probably vice versa.
But do you know why Bill Hicks isn't famous, but Dennis Leary is?
Because there's no cure for cancer.

His Alex Jones persona is amazing though

Hicks wasn't funny. People might like him if they agree with his insane rants, but he wasn't funny. He also gets the death bounce, with lots of people deciding he was cool after he died.
Of course, he didnt really die he just became Alex Jones.

Hicks was an unfunny a-hole.
He's loved by liberals because he does a great job saying exactly what a lot of them think.
I get why he is beloved by those type of people, but to actual fans of comedy he was tiresome and boorish.

Bill Hicks is an acquired taste. I watched him a few times and thought he was too dark and really wasn't even trying to be funny but was trying to get a message across. As I watched more of his stuff I found him to be pretty hilarious. He is super super dark though. Personally one of my favorite comedians. Not because I find him funny but because I think he believed in what he was saying.
Now Sam Kinison? He isn't funny.

I find him pretty over rated. It's one of those situations where everyone talks about how great he is because he died young.

Your denial is beneath you. and thanks to the use of hallucinegenic drugs... I see though you.
Don't worry, sir. Dick jokes are coming. That's how this works. I rant about politics for 45 minutes and then in the last five minutes we gently float down to dick joke island together.

He was okay. Funny enough, but I'm not getting his name tattooed on me. I was surprised that my younger friends looked up to him as a truth-teller.
He was a bit of a hypocrite at times, but then most of the socially conscious comedians are.

Just looked up some Bill Hicks clips. I'm glad cancer won this one.

They lie about marijuana. Tell you pot-smoking makes you unmotivated. Lie! When you're high, you can do everything you normally do just as well - you just realize that it's not worth the f*cking effort. There is a difference.

You know I've noticed a certain anti-intellectualism going around this country ever since around 1980, coincidentally enough. I was in Nashville, Tennessee last weekend and after the show I went to a waffle house and I'm sitting there and I'm eating and reading a book. I don't know anybody, I'm alone, I'm eating and I'm reading a book. This waitress comes over to me (mocks chewing gum) 'what you readin' for?'...wow, I've never been asked that; not 'What am I reading', 'What am I reading for?' Well, goddamnit, you stumped me...I guess I read for a lot of reasons — the main one is so I don't end up being a f**kin' waffle waitress. Yeah, that would be pretty high on the list. Then this trucker in the booth next to me gets up, stands over me and says [mocks Southern drawl] 'Well, looks like we got ourselves a readah'...aahh, what the frick's goin' on? It's like I walked into a Klan rally in a Boy George costume or something. Am I stepping out of some intellectual closet here? I read, there I said it. I feel better.
quote:
How many people, when you watched the LA riots on the news, were like me, watching the people getting hauled out of their cars and beaten half to death? How many people were like me seeing this and thinking "Step on the fricking gas, man. They're on foot, you're in a truck … I think I see a way outta this.
quote:
We have women priests now. What do y'all think of that, women priests? [scattered applause] I think that's fine. So what? Now we've got priests of both sexes that I don't listen to.
quote:
God put [dinosaur fossils] here to test our faith!" … I think God put you here to test my faith, dude. Does that bother anybody else, the idea that God might be fricking with our heads? I have trouble sleeping with that knowledge. Some prankster God runnin' around, [pantomimes digging] "We'll see who believes in me now. I am the Prankster God – I am killing me!"
quote:
You know we armed Iraq. I wondered about that too, you know. During the Persian Gulf war, those intelligence reports would come out: "Iraq: incredible weapons – incredible weapons." "How do you know that?" "Uh, well … we looked at the receipts. But as soon as that check clears, we're goin' in. What time's the bank open? Eight? We're going in at nine.
quote:
I asked that question once ["Are there actually women in the world who do not like to give blowjobs?"] and a woman yelled "Yeah, you ever try it?" I said "Yeah. Almost broke my back." It's that one vertebra, I swear to god it's that close. I think that's the next thing to go in our next evolutionary step. Just a theory, and a fervent prayer! And now all the guys are going, "Honey, I have no idea what he's talking about," ...but guys, you know what I'm talking about. I can speak for any guy here tonight: guys, if you could blow yourselves? Ladies, you'd be here alone right now...watching an empty stage. ...Boy, my parents are proud of me! "Bill, honey, you still doing that suck-your-own-cock bit?" "Yeah, ma." "Good, baby, that's such a crowd-pleaser."

While I find his standup entertaining, I don't find it funny in the least bit.

Yeah Hicks isn't overrated. People just don't like the message like Carlin.
The older and wiser you get the more Carlin is the greatest comedian ever.
He gave sermons, truisms, that will last for 200 years.
