And yet, rather than face the extremely low support for the party, Democrats are busy avoiding and ignoring their own credibility problems. Even Hillary Clinton has refused to take any responsibility for losing the election, citing four external reasons for her loss: “Russian meddling in the election, FBI Director James Comey’s involvement toward the end of the race, WikiLeaks’ theft of emails from her campaign chairman, and misogyny.”

What’s amazing about this list is that there is no reference of any kind to the failures of the DNC itself. Clinton, like all party stalwarts, seems completely incapable of articulating any sort of reasonable assessment of the disasters of the last election.

good read; spot on. dems need to get their shite together or 8 years of don will be a reality

Both parties actually have a big problem with people that represent them in congress.

The Dems (Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, etc) are horribly unpopular. As are Paul Ryan, McConnell and co.

All the focus is on Trump right now but all members of congress need to watch out in 18 and 20.

I agree but as long as the Dems have the numbers AND can get them out in droves they don't need to change a thing

The problem with Dems is that they don't have a platform that is good for America. Their success hinges on identity politics and victimization paired with personal destruction of their enemies. They don't offer a positive path forward and have to rely on guilting voters to vote for them or absolutely destroying the opponents to the point where the Dems win by default.

They overplayed their hand the last 8 years and saturated the people with the SJW nonsense and are paying the price. There is nothing to evaluate on their end because they would have to throw away their entire playbook and start over if they wanted to fix their situation. Instead, they are doubling down on what they know and are trying with all their might to destroy Trump so that the people will vote for the Dems again as the only real alternative.

A better title would be Dems HAD a problem. Hillary is a disaster of a person and a disaster of a politician, but she is a part of the past of the party.

As long as they don't make the mistake of stacking the deck and running the worst candidate they can next time they'll be fine.

You have no idea how many people still love Hillary and think she got robbed. She is still very prevalent in the fabric of the party.

Not to mention that Elizabeth Warren is a pretty similar character and she is beholden by 90% of the party as some great figure.

I don't disagree with any of that. The DNC needs young new leadership in a bad way.

They lost 1200 seats nationwide since 2009. Not all of those seats were held by Hillary Clinton. How do you explain that?

Another problem is age. If you asked politically astute people to name the 5 most important Dem politicians their average age would be about 70. The GOP has a lot younger bench.

She strikes me as the type who would never take responsibility for anything that went wrong, but would be the first in line to take credit for something that went right.

They do need to change, as evidenced by their shrinking population of local elected positions and to some extent of their losing majorities in Congress.
They won't change because of the arrogance of the liberal mindset. Their hope for the future hangs on current minority communities staying faithful and the arrival of the SJW classes pouring out of colleges.
That may be a fool's hope. As minority communities become more prosperous and college students become involved in the mainstream they may begin to drift away.

Uhh yeah. Liar and likes to pander.

Also not to mention another woman with a terribly annoying voice. Pretty similar.

The ONE area they are different is Hillary's coziness to Wall Street.

Nothing major will be done to address both parties' leadership weaknesses within - and therefore who they support to win federal level elections - until a true 3rd party or two rises to compete.

Both can continue to suck while voters are stuck playing the lesser of two evils game in the voting booth.

That seems very true. But the voter age, from what I see, shows a lot younger, millennial voters going Dem.

Perhaps it's just where I'm at, but I see most of the millennials around me as either not giving a crap about politics at all or leaning left. They hear liberals talk about free healthcare, free education, free everything and think "man, that'd be cool" without looking into how it's going to be paid for.

Going back to your "younger bench" comment, this is why they rallied around the CryptKeeper, Bernie Sanders.
