Simple. The collective IQ of the majority of the voters in Orleans parish is in the negative range. Stupid people elect horrible politicians. Also, a majority of the elections are won not based on political views, rather the color of your skin. New Orleans will never be great due to the large collection of mental midgets that inhabit the city. But Obama says its not their fault they have never made anything of themselves.

This. Who the hell would want to deal with the idiots on the councils and such in BR and Nola.
The only legit mayor candidate that I really liked in the last 15 years for Nola was Ron Foreman. That man would have been great and would have gotten shite done. I think if he would have ran 10 years later he could have won as the number of whites in Nola has gone up.
The qualifying has started for the next mayoral campaign and none of the names being thrown around do much for me.

Much like Birmingham, BR and Nola are majority black and 95% vote Democrat. It's as simple as that. Sure there a few dumb arse college students and feminists in that number too but that's essentially why.

I would be down with a Stacy Head run for mayor. But she would never win. Wrong race and too intelligent.

Besides being a black woman. What has Broome done so far that rustles so many people's jimmies?

Do we need to talk about the Birmingham mayor that wanted to build a cruise terminal near downtown?

1. Hired a conman as CAO, then had to fire him when The Advocate vetted him
2. Tries to fire the BRPD chief who kept the AS protestors in check
3. Has laid out a pro-AA agenda that ignores and alienates non-AA's
Here are the things her administration reported as her successes over the first 100 days:
Some highlights of achievements her office made since January include, but are not limited to:
Collaborated with citizens and law enforcement to update BRPD’s Use of Force Policy to align with national best practices
Met with the Restore Louisiana Task Force, expressing the need for additional recovery dollars and greater flexibility in the expenditure of that money
Led efforts to secure funding to keep the Pecue Ln. and I-10 interchange project on schedule
Initiated a transportation solutions summit
Hosted, in conjunction with Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful, the inaugural “Mayor Broome’s Clean Sweep EBR” event with 355 volunteers
Hosted an inaugural Education Roundtable with East Baton Rouge Parish Schools Superintendent Warren Drake
Held first joint meeting with EBR school board members and metro council members
Launched implementation plan for Cradle to K initiative
Drafted Equity in Business Opportunity plan
Entered into an agreement with the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce that now includes a focus on small businesses and those owned by minorities and women
Translation: She held a bunch of pointless meetings and got nothing committed except a focus on minority business ownership...
