Firing has little to do with Russian Investigation

Reading articles and listening to the radio has been quite a disappointment today. I even heard two experts on NPR decry that there is no other reason for Trump firing Comey than because of his handling of the investigation into Russian election hacking.
Comey hung himself out with his comments recently stating that he made his decisions on release of information and decisions on action on the Clinton case because he didn't trust the AG to do her job.
Even worse, his reasoning for his decisions were horrible and constituted breach of the protocols set in place for the FBI and DOJ.
Two things:
1) He was fire for the Clinton shenaigans
2) Firing him doesn't stop the investigation into Russian hacking.
Finally, people are pinning on a statement in Trumps letter/email to Comey stating that he appreciated him reassuring him that he wasn't directly under investigation and wondering why he would say that if the investigation had nothing to do with the firing.
Are people really that dense? The guy was making it clear that while he appreciated his forthrightness in that regard that the mistakes in the Clinton investigation that came to light were unacceptable and his justifications for them were not supportable.
I am a liberal and even I can see this bullshite from a mile away about Trump doing this to cover his arse.

The timing of it is very strange. And supposedly trump asked for the memo yesterday from the deputy ag.
I think if it was in his first week or so in office, then it wouldnt have been as big of a deal. but with it happening right after comey asked for more money, and the grand jury issued subponeas - it looks quite suspicious.

No it isnt.
Comey works for the DAG and ultimately the AG.
Dems demanded Sessions recuse himself from all transition team investigations...and he did.
Yates was fired.
They just confirmed the new DAG 2 weeks ago.
That's the fricking timing, you dimwitted fool.

this is such bullshite. how about his damning testimony just the other day in which he admitted that there was plenty of evidence Hillary broke the law but he decided not to do anything anyway. how about the guy had zero credibility? he had completely lost the trust of this Administration and the American public.
NPR can go gas themselves.

The timing is not strange at all. Comey was just being questioned in the past few days. Now he's fired. His answers probably = the straw that broke the camel's back. Most firings in business are not due to one incident as a stand alone. You were already on the brink and the incident tipped you over.

Would Trump shoot tomahawks at the Whitehouse if they did?

1. And yet Sessions wrote one of the letters in support of firing Comey. If Trump was going to rely on the AG's opinion then there is no reason to also wait for the Deputy Attorney General too.
2. If Trump wanted to wait to get multiple opinions why the hell wouldn't he wait for the internal investigation into how Comey handled the Clinton investigation to finish?

The letter references what happened last summer and fall, not last week.

:sigh:
Yates fired, Sessions recused, tick, tock, tick, tock. Yates replacement confirmed 2 weeks ago, studies issue, writes letter. BOOM! fired!
How do you not get that timeline?

You have to be a special kind of moron to think this is why Comey was fired. Not just wink and nod to the obvious cover, but to actually believe it.
Good job?

No one believes this, even right wing pundits find Trump's stated rationale laughable.
