As I understood the issue, there was nothing wrong with treated Flint River water. The problem was when they switched, they didn't put the required chemical into the treated water that prevented lead from older pipes from leeching into the water.
I forget where exactly that breakdown occurred. I do know the state knew about it and didn't disclose it to residents.

The Feds knew it, too, I believe. And didn't notify anyone.

The whole Flint issue was caused by BOTH parties screwing the pooch, and as a result the people.
