I dont know much about the novels, I like King for the most part.

That trailer was awesome, I guess not having any stock in the books helped.

What do you think of Elba and MM?

Elba looks like he's playing it perfectly. Interested to see MM play the Man in Black.

Never read the books and was hoping this movie would jumpstart me enough to finally pick them up.

Trailer looks okay, kind of a Last Action Hero thing going on which I didn't expect. I hope the kid doesnt get too much in the way. Will still see.

I'm a huge fan of the books but I'm excited about this movie. Just have to look at it as something kinda different than what we wanted from The Dark Tower movie. I'm going in with an open mind even though I realize it's not going to be the books.

Looks pretty good.

A Netflix, Hulu, or HBO series done true to the books could have been amazing.

Some footage of this screened at a festival a few months back. People familiar with the books did not like it at all. I guess the movie isn't made for them. Maybe non-readers will enjoy it though. McConaughy as the villain isn't working for me from that trailer at least.

He's the big bad, but if I remember correctly from the books, he was more like a puppet master.

And I had the opposite impression. Even if this is based on a later turn of The Wheel, this trailer proved what I figured all along...a weak fricking effort.

Steven King's ability to create and describe tension is so much better than his ability to resolve it. 6 pages of excitement, followed by a paragraph of resolution. In this case it's six books of tension, followed by one paragraph of resolution. That last book was so busy.

Oh its all about the journey not the destination, the Stand being a good example.

Page for page? It's an entirely different story with different character and a different Roland

This.

I'm looking forward to it as a movie. I think it'll be good.

But it is not the Dark Tower and its not Roland Deschain. Using that name for it is a very frustrating disappointment.
