another city.
sorry but I'm really kind of serious. The only restaurant in Monroe that used to be worth a damn was river and rail, and the locals ran that off because they'd rather eat at applebees.

Otis, I'm a bit busy, could you tell that feller a few things.
Tell him, if he's in Ouachita Parish, lunch is dinner and dinner is supper.
There are usually 3 meals,
Breakfast
Dinner
Supper
ETA: and tell that Scott goober he's an idiot.

haha sorry you feel that way ole geauxt, but years of living in Monroe has harbored a resentment for that place and all of it's residents. I always felt like anything good and unique never got supported by anyone other than a certain few. The vast majority of the population there really only supports crappy chains or any event that duck dynasty is tied to. but that's a long rant that is a bit off track for this tread so let me try and be more helpful....
Now that I think harder portico is a pretty solid restaurant. I'd try there

You sound like a youngster that didn't get out very much. Maybe it was somebody' else's fault, that you think that about the people and chains, let's blame it on your parents,, OR, at least somebody else, isn't that what your generation does?
Exactly which nice restaurants have you personally been to? Remember, we can see your snot nose growing every time you lie.

What else was there? I know cotton is amazing, but not like you always wanna spend that much. Warehouse 1 was ok but inconsistent to me, as mentioned in another post Portico was solid and I had just forgotten about it.
Honest question.. what was I missing?

nice resturants
cotton: enjoyed but pricey to go there consistently
Nona: thought it was ok
genusas: good but way over priced in my opinion
portico: really enjoyed this place
It's been about 2 years since I've been so maybe I have forgotten a few. I probably should have held that response in. This is just a matter of personal preference, but I hated living in Monroe. Sorry to bring my frustration here haha

I could name 10 off the top of my head.
I'm happy that you got out, sounds like you didn't really do a dam thing for the community.
Portico, really?????

Good lord. River and Rail was one of the shittiest restaurants in Monroe. The only thing it had going for it was the building itself. The reason it closed was because it had shitty food and service. It has been converted to a place called SQ's, an Italian type place of which I have heard mixed reviews.
To the OP, most of the better local places are closed on Sunday. Trio, Daqs and Portico should be open as well as most of the Mexican places. And of course the aforementioned Applebees and Interstate chain places.

Balls, I feel sorry for that young lad. Not to ever get to go to good places above portico, and to be out in the world with such limited cranial matter.

The other question: Is there anything non- chain open on a Sunday night?
Posted on 5/1/17 at 2:09 pm to Ole Geauxt
He isn't wrong about finding another city. Monroe is a terrible place to eat on a Sunday night.

Add Cormier's for crawfish, Taste of India for Indian, and Athena for Greek.
Crawfish City in WM will likely be open, too, I'd think.

Was river and rail the Mexican joint downtown?
