Get the neato d80 and the three year extended warranty. I had the near xv-20 and it made it almost 2 years and then got replaced under warranty, so I got the d80. It just died after a year and a half and I just sent it in under the 3 yr warranty.

That seems like a black mark against the Neato. You already have replaced two units in 3.5 yrs. Yeah they were under warranty, but what if they were just past it and died, you would be screwed.

To the poster that said I could hire a maid, they are really expensive. The wife works hard and makes a good bit of money, so the under $1k budget isn't that bad, she is worth it.

If it didn't work so well it would be a mark against it for me, but I run the things every day and having them replaced or fixed under the warranty doesnt cost me anything. I have a large house and the d80 recharges half way though and cleans the whole first floor brilliantly. Even if it only lasted a couple years I would replace it.

Your link led me to this great amazon feedback for the Eufy RoboVac 11...

quote:

Question:
Would my cat or human baby be able to ride on top of this without damaging the unit?

Answer:
I have been unable to acquire a human baby on Amazon (so far) but the stray cats in my neighborhood love to hitch rides on my Eufy RoboVac 11. I would highly recommend you read page 11 of the manual which describes how best to situate your human baby, cat, and other small animals on the vacuum. When I run out of cats to give rides to, I find that using small lizards and frogs provide hours of entertainment and you can usually find these critters for free in your backyard.

Neato is great, but I love my downstairs "Bobsweep".

cheap and efficient.

Wife and i bought the basic Roomba and we love it. We have 2 dogs and one sheds REALLY badly.. the Roomba keeps the shedding mess in check between deep cleanings. It seriously blew us away.
