re: Which city has the best RESTAURANTS in all of America?

New York is the answer, but Los Angeles might be number 2, as LA is widely regarded as having the best quality ethnic food, in regards to the most popular ethnic cuisines.

New York has the most variety of ethnic food (eastern european, Caribbean, etc), but LA has better Chinese, Mexican, Sushi/Japanese and other Asian foods (thai, vietnamese, korean). Obviously New York kills us in italian/pizza.

What holds LA back is we don't have one signature dish or cuisine (like a chicago deep dish pizza), and we surprisingly do not have any 3 star michelin restaurants, and cities like NY, SF and Chicago best us in ultra-fine dining.

I'd say that NY is #1, LA is 2, NOLA is 3 (based on uniqueness) and SF/Chicago round out the top 5.
