quote:

Campus of @espn has often been place of pride, achievement & tons of psychic income for many, but this week's layoffs will be tough for all.

Make no mistake, today's announcement of layoffs at @espn speak directly to significant changes in what they do and how they do it.

John Skipper has just sent memo to all @espn employees. Layoffs announced today. Around 50 names you will recognize; another 50 you may not.

Driving force behind today's decision is different approach to @SportsCenter with increased emphasis on digital presence. #ESPN

Hearing now from several @espn employees who, despite advanced word, are "in shock" and "frozen." This is an awful day for all in Bristol.

The whole SportsCenter AM crew has to be gone given that new Mike Greenberg show is going to bump them

Jemeele Hill but that won't happen because they would be labeled racist

Everybody hates ESPN pundits and rightly so but their ridiculous NFL and NBA contracts are the main culprits for why ESPN has been struggling in recent years.

No matter the politics, it sucks to see people getting laid off.

I'm sure they can all get jobs at CNN or fox news because all they do is try to push their political agenda instead of covering sports anyway.

At the rate they've been going, they'll lay off the remaining decent sportscasters and double down on pushing their politics.

Good. They should go back to their programming they had in the 80's. Just sports center, sports, and more sports. Take their soap boxes away so the race baiters don't have a platform anymore.

You guys sure do have quite a hard-on for a station that you never watch... "other than games".

I bet they lay off 50 white men....

If Ed Werder, a consummate professional on tv, can get the boot, they better get rid of the rest of the NFL correspondents. Every time I hear Josena Anderson over enunciate e-ver-y Word it makes me cringe.

Layoffs will be 75-80% white men.
It won't be Stephen A, Jemele, or Lebatard.
If they cancel Russillo and Kanell we should riot

Stephen A, Bomani Jones, and Jemele Hill will still be there the day they cut the lights off at ESPN. Not that they deserve to be there, just that they can't be fired according to the Disney/ESPN unspoken mission statement

So 3 confirmed names

Ed Werder
Scott Burnside
Jeff Goodman

All 3 guys I like

Good luck ESPN by doubling down and going all in on the African American demographic. Might as well change the name Sports Center while you are at it, sounds too white.

I few of these people I have to put a face to a name and still don't recognize them. I do believe people that mention not watching daily ESPN programming, it really did start to go to shite. I haven't watched since 2011ish.

None of these cuts mean anything if they don't fire retards like Stephen A and Max Kellerman.

And race baiters like Jemele Hill
