talk is cheap foster is bad news and saints would do well to pass on him no matter where he falls

It was already said above.

he benefited from a great scheme and coach but in the nfl the offenses are so dynamic he won't be able to get into position to make plays.
Saban is the master at putting his defensive players in positions from a schematic standpoint to mask their deficiencies. His greatest work was with Reggie Ragland against the pass.

Its crazy how a pothead never failed a drug test at college. And even the one at the combine wasnt a true positive test in the sense of the word.
as for people comparing him to Anthony. Y'all do realize that Anthony cannot simply diagnose a run from a pass when in the game, right?
yea, you found 2 plays from the national championship game where he got duped. OMGSZZZ

Saban doesn't call plays. In the 2009 Tennessee game, 300 pound Marcel Dareus dropped into a hook zone late in the 4th quarter and unsurprisingly was beaten down the seam by the tight end for a 20 yard gain that put Tennessee in position for a game winning field goal.
You are just using vague and subjective terminology in an attempt to sound like you know what you're talking about. You don't though, pop in some foster tape and you'll see him pointing and yelling at his teammates pre snap. Probably just speaking potato though amirite
quote:
“I think Reuben Foster is the best inside linebacker I’ve seen since Luke Kuechly,” he said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM on Tuesday. “And I don’t say that lightly because I’m a [Boston College] guy and I really love Luke Kuechly. So you’ve got to figure Reuben Foster out, the person.”
Foster has some off-field concerns, ranging to the friends he has and also the incident at the NFL combine that led to his being dismissed. Mayock said those concerns are “nothing crazy.”
But Foster is exciting to watch.
“On the field his, tape is unbelievable — I love watching him play,” Mayock added.
Ragland graded out 13th in coverage among linebackers in his last year in college btw. You can only hide so much if you're bad in coverage, and ranking 13th out of 400 players isn't indicative of hiding a major weakness, it means you're pretty good at it

Lester, now com'on. He just started smoking pot right before the combine? If he just started he more retarded than we think...
Bama had him and the narrative under wraps..Sabin, gives birmingham cherry koolaid and tells Birmingham its Sprite. And they add crown royale to it.
A better statement would be, he did not have any failed drug test as far as anyone knows of outside of the university of Alabama.
And the saints are not taking him at ANY pick, all these short comings were known by the since 4 weeks ago...he is off their big board and has been off for over a month now!!

His test was to diluted they never found drugs in his system. Shouldn't count as a fail. Even joe Thomas went off on the NFL for counting that as a fail. It's a joke

you would know if he did. Just like people did with TM7 and Ryan Perriloux and other frick ups over the years

Vilma was the next smartest MLB/ILB in Saints history behind Sam Mills. You are forgetting just how intelligent Vilma was but even moreso how much of a team leader he was.
I'm not forgetting anything thanks. I absolutely remember how smart he was. Not all linebackers need to be the brain of a defense. It could easily pass to on of the other players.
quote:
What you want is controlled chaos.
No, I want a guy is a guy who is going to plant a Rb under the field. I want a Patrick Willis or Navarro Bowman who enforces the middle of the field and doesn't miss tackles. I want a bit of an a-hole and a guy who plays with his hair on fire and whose teammates are inspired to do the same because of his play and because they're just a little bit afraid of him.
quote:
You will not get that with foster
Agree to disagree.

He doesn't have to call plays but you are kidding yourself if you think his hands aren't all over his team's individual game plans & player preparation. We are talking about a coach who leaves nothing for chance & who is hands on with every apsect of his program.

Yeah that's just it.
quote:
Saban has long been recognized as having a first-rate football mind. New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick -- himself the winner of a few championships -- hired Saban as his defensive coordinator when Belichick coached the Cleveland Browns in the early 1990s. He pays Saban the ultimate compliment: He copies him. "We talk on a pretty regular basis," says Belichick. "If I ask Nick a question and he says, 'Well, this is how we do it,' then I usually just cut to where he is and take that shortcut and say, 'Okay, we're going to do it this way.' I know that he's already gone through all the stages of thinking it through, and I would rather just get to the stage that he's at rather than waste the time figuring that I'm going to end up at that same point anyway."
What really separates Saban from the crowd is his organizational modus operandi. In Tuscaloosa they call it the Process. It's an approach he implemented first in turnarounds at Michigan State and LSU and seems to have perfected at Alabama. He has a plan for everything. He has a detailed program for his players to follow, and he's highly regimented. Above all, Saban keeps his players and coaches focused on execution -- yes, another word for process -- rather than results.
quote:
In other words he micromanages -- but with a purpose. He sets expectations so that everyone understands what he wants, and then he can pull back. "When you have a system, you kind of get in a routine of what's important," says Saban. "And then you spend a lot more time on thinking of things that would make it better. Like we met on this camp today. The first year I was here we met for eight hours on how we were going to do the camp. Now everybody else in that room knows how I want the camp run, so we don't need to spend eight hours on it."
quote:
Simply winning was never good enough. "He was a perfectionist in the way he analyzed me," says Saban. "And winning was important, all right, but my dad would get on me even when we won about how I played or a mistake that I made or if my body language wasn't right." As Saban wrote in his 2005 book, How Good Do You Want to Be?, the takeaway from his upbringing was powerful: You should always "evaluate success." Even when you win, you should study what you could have done better and plan how to improve next time.

Reggie Ragland was a liability vs the pass

Saban hid Ragland by completely pulling him off the field in obvious passing situations.

I'm curious as an Alabama fan why you aren't big on Foster?
I've been watching him since he came out of high school and he seems to be the exact type of player the Saints need. I'm talking about strictly on the field of course

Totally different situation. Tebow and Manziel lacked actual football skills. Foster has been a fricking outstanding player on the field and has every tool.

You are talking about two guys who are extremely football smart on top of being great leaders. Neither Bowman (Penn State) or Patrick Willis (Ole Miss) had so many questionable character flaws surrounding them. When you track their careers back to their respected colleges, both were already respected as leader of men & no one questioned their football intelligence. Don't give me that crap about Willis' wonderlic. That test is meaningless in terms of leadership & football savy/intelligence. Teams even knew Vilma had a degenerative knee condition from the medical exams at the combine but his character intangibles were so off the charts that the Jets overlooked that. Teams knew Vilma had a clock on his knees but the Jets felt it would benefit them to take him with the 12th pick in 2004.
At the most important part of his football career, Foster can't even get out of his own way. What is going to happen once he makes it? How much stupid shite will he possibly do when he makes it on top on his of prior injury history? He has a concussion history, stinger history & just had surgery for a torn labrum. This cat is surrounded by too many negatives.
