What says the OB? Worth buying as a new deer rifle for little Catahoula?

Got the .270 with Nikon BDC for around $145 with Cabelas matching Academy's sale price and using $300 in Cabelas club points. Straight shooter at 100 yds for sure. Nice deal for a nice rifle, I think.

Got the Axis in 7mm 08 for my two little Spoons. For the price point its a great rifle. The tang safety is easy for the kids also.

Axis seems to be a solid gun. Be sure the gun has a top notch recoil pad (get a new pad if necessary). At the range use a "sissy pad" and ear plugs plus muffs. Start your young ones off w/ reduced recoil ammo.

Trigger pull is up there around 6lbs. I had to change out the trigger spring on my boy's 7mm08. Easy fix for $15. Great gun for the price.

My son has a Savage Axis .243, I dint think you'll find a better rifle for the money.

Bought the 7mm 08 for my kid. Solid gun for the price. Well pleased.
