Unless you are getting a legit working/hunting dog, get a shelter dog.

Happy wife/gf, happy life.
If my SO wants something that's attainable, I'm going to get it for her. God forbid I try and be a decent partner.

or I don't know, you could let the guy spend his money on what he sees fit.

The wife wants a goldendoodle. I'm not going to be the one to tell her she's a ruthless witch, but I suppose I can put her in touch with you?

Doesn't necessarily mean that there will be problems with the whole litter. I got a Sheltie puppy a few years ago that died suddenly after I had her for a couple of weeks, we think it was heart defect. I don't think any of the other puppies in the litter had any issues. We were offered another, but we didn't take it just because we weren't ready.

The Mrs. and I are supposed to pick up a new puppy from a breeder this weekend. The litter was comprised of 5 boys and 5 girls. We want a boy so we had 5 to choose from. We were informed by the breeder this morning one of the 5 boys died this morning due to some sort of respiratory illness. I've reviewed the contract and we would be covered if this happened to the puppy we get, but curious if this is something that happens frequently or if it should raise red flags about the breeder. They said it was the weakest dog in the litter, but that he was fine prior to this morning.
Dude. Someone else bought the puppy you wanted and paid more for it. They lied to you. No big Deal.

how about adopting a shelter dog?
Supporting breeders is lame AF
You people are the worst.
I took my 12 week old yellow lab to PetSmart last weekend and they must have had some sort of shelter/adoption day. We were in the parking lot and a woman in a tshirt two sizes too big with a huge dachshund on the front came up to me...
"Oh your puppy is so cute!" *pets my extremely cute puppy*
"Yes she is, thank you."
"Did you get her from a shelter?"
"No ma'am, I got her from a breeder. She's going to be a hunting dog."
"SHAME ON YOU! blah blah blah I run the shelter in Lafayette blah blah blah we get labs all the time blah blah blah"
"Ok well have a nice day."
fricking count.
I don't need a goddamn lecture from the loon with disheveled hair wearing a 3XL tshirt patrolling the pet store parking lot. I will buy whatever I want with my money. I wanted a dog with a strong hunting bloodline and healthy genes -- so I researched breeders and bought a dog with a strong hunting bloodline and whose parents and grandparents were free of hip, elbow, and eye problems and all that jazz.

Haha, don't think that thought didn't cross my mind

Was that 'yup' to getting it at Lone Star? lol
And yeah, pretty crazy huh haha, but I've learned life is much easier if you just make the woman in your life happy at every opportunity. Since I learned that I pretty much do whatever the frick I want when I want to.

Yes that is what the yup was to. Then I saw your wife comment and it sounds like we are the same person living in parallel universes, haha.

Very likely.
Good luck with the dog. We're picking ours up in early May. We're looking forward to it. You'll have to post some pics when ya'll get yours this weekend.

Thanks. Will definitely post pics. Despite this minor scare, I think he will be a really good dog. The breeder is very professional and gets rave reviews.

I have a one year old Lonestar F1B sleeping on my feet as I type this. Best dog I've ever owned.
Lonestar is first class all the way.
Make sure you have a good groomer and you brush him every day. They mat like crazy.
Good luck finding the place.

Breeders are trashy as frick.
The dog died from the "respiratory illness" caused by the mold growing in the breeder's old FEMA trailer, or generations of inbreeding left the poor dog with a multitude of birth defects that resulted in its death.

Have you heard anything about there being two different breeders who go by Lonestar Doodles? There are horror stories on Facebook about a posing breeder with poor breeding standards. Would you mind sharing the address of the place where you picked your dog up? I'm confident we have the "real" Lonestar Doodles but want to be sure.
