Yeah, more recently, this then-unknown singer used to play at our local bar all the damn time, and she ended up in Sugarland (Jennifer Nettles), who knew...

Soul Miner's Daughter?

Which bar?

WSMFP is head and shoulders above Phish...

One has the most sold out shows at the best music venue in the country. That same band holds the record for playing in front of the largest crowd ever for a live music performance.

Hint: Phish hasn't done either one of those

I forgot about Soul Miner's Daughter, but yeah, she also performed as the Jennifer Nettles Band too. I remember her playing at the Soul Bar in Augusta back in the day...

Well, WSP sure as shite doesn't hold that record either, not by a long shot. But between them and Phish, Phish has definitely played in front of a larger PAYING crowd, not counting multi-act festivals...

Yep, 2010 at Red Rocks & finally made it to the Gorge this past summer. The sound is better at Red Rocks, but tGorge is paradise.

Out of curiosity, has Phish ever played to a crowd that big?

The problem with phish is that trey doesn't have any soul in his style.

Now JB has got soul!!

Honestly, Widespread Panic has likely played in front of a crowd larger than that

edit: Phish played in front of 85,000 at Cypress.

Huh?

Like I said earlier- Phish is about to break the record for most shows played at the most famous arena in the most important city in the world.

They are responsible for the festival renaissance of aughts, with legendary events such as The Great Went and Big Cypress creating the blueprints for the Coachellas and Bonnaroos of today. Also Cypress was the biggest collection of people at the turn of the millenium on 12.31.99 fwiw.

Stats are one thing. Actual music is another. Panic has NOTHING in their career that is even in the same stratosphere as things like

12.6.97 Tweezer>Izabella
6.28.00 Bathtub Gin
6.18.94 David Bowie>Mind Left Body jam>David Bowie
12.9.95 You Enjoy Myself
11.17.97 Ghost
12.7.99 Halley's Comet
7.6.98 Ghost
11.2.96 Run Like An Antelope
12.29.94 David Bowie
10.31.95 You Enjoy Myself
...
Could go on and on

uncle eboneezer

what a stupid f'n song.

Enjoy your dumb music, i'll go sip on a tall boy and listen to Big Wooly Mammoth

but seriously...Panic is better in every way. Phish is for burnout nerds.

even the current era, Jimmy Herring is a better guitarist than Trey

And Schools has 10 times more talent than the child diddler Gordon

He's more consistent. That's it. Trey on a good night blows Herring on a good night out the water.

No, actually most Panic fans agree Schools is the most talented in the band. Easily more talented than the Phish guy (who is a hack).

Phish's drummer (the guy who wears a dress ) is more talented than Todd or Duane. I'll give you nerds that.

Once Phish writes a song as good as Diner, Driving Song, Vacation, Hatfield, StopGo, Surprise Valley, etc...then get back to me.

I don't think anyone has argued that Phish has better lyrics than Widespread Panic. It's pretty clear they are better songwriters than Phish.
